Women in Business: Productivity in a Post-pandemic World

Last week, Karen Rich and Nadia Payne hosted Venture's 5th Women in Business Breakfast at Skylark Country Club in Whiteley. In attendance were women working locally in HR, accounting and finance with a shared interest in networking and discussing their experiences at work.

This time, the guest speaker was Lynne Titley, an ACCA Fellow with 25 years of finance operations experience. Lynne has spent a lot of her career leading teams through change and has a passion for utilising technology to increase productivity.

Using her PAID framework, Lynne discussed how the workplace has undergone significant change since the COVID-19 pandemic. With the introduction of flexible working, there's increased reliance on emails and remote communications channels, but are we using these effectively?

Lynne introduced the idea of using task management apps with the ability to record upcoming deadlines, reminding you when subsequent work needs to be completed and helping you stay on top of your priorities. Task management apps also enable you to reduce internal noise, removing the need to send email updates and unnecessary questions.

And finally, Lynne discussed the role of data in the workplace and creating structured knowledge management systems that can provide insightful data as and when you need it.

A huge thank you to Lynne for speaking at our latest Women in Business Breakfast, and thank you to each of our guests for attending and leaving feedback on how these events are supporting local women in business:

“This has been my favourite event; really loved the content and found it so relevant. The speaker was fantastic - humble & engaging & interesting and the topic really made me think about how I can change and improve the way I work and manage.”

“Great food for thought. We’ll all be investigating task management tools back in the office!”

“Really good event. Good to chat about productivity & efficiencies. Thank you again for promoting amazing women in business.”

We hope you gained some useful tips that will help you at work, and we'll see you at our next event.
