Finance Assistant

Are you an experienced transactional finance professional looking for a broad finance role with a great salary and hybrid working arrangement. 

This Finance Assistant role has an emphasis on Sales Ledger and Credit Control and offers great work life balance in a friendly caring business. The location is easily accessible just off the A3049 and offers 2 days working from home from day 1. 

Key Responsibilities of this role include;

  1. Ensuring invoicing and associated activities (e.g. weekly/monthly returns to clients of service provided) are completed on time for all clients and is accurate across all public sector clients and private clients.
  2. Ensure (with the Management Accountant) that the monthly sales ledger reconciliation is completed and accurate.
  3. Pro-actively work on credit control including dealing with queries, issuing statements, chasing payment and overall ensuring the business is able to collect cash in a timely manner. This will involve direct liaison with local authority councils and the NHS for most of the support invoicing and with the in-house operations team/service users for private invoices.
  4. Assist with client rate negotiations; including help with supporting documentation and calculations around price uplifts and reviews.
  5. General ad-hoc assistance as required by the finance team and business for additional reporting/information/support during critical times etc. The finance team is fairly small so the role may grow into various other activities to support business needs and this person would be expected to be comfortable with that approach.

 The ideal candidate will have;

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of Sage would be advantageous
  • Excellent customer service skills; comfortable talking with and challenging local authority clients
  • Ability to plan, work under pressure, multi-task and meet short deadlines.
